Kenya Mission
WE all regret very much the necessary resignation of Mr Donald MacDonald and his wife, Dr Christine, from our Mission in Kenya due to Dr Christine’s serious and repetitive illness with malaria. Their work in Zimbabwe and in Kenya was much appreciated. We are glad to say that Dr Christine has made a good recovery. She and her little daughter, Sarah, are in Glasgow awaiting the return of Donald in October, if all is well.
The Nursing Sisters in Sengera were very grateful to Rev John Goldby for coming quickly to Kenya to assist them after the necessary, sudden departure of Mr and Mrs MacDonald.
On 24th August, Dr James Tallach left for Kenya to help with the medical work in the Omarembe Health Centre at Sengera for six weeks.
It was with pleasure that we heard that Mr Ian and Mrs Myra Maclean, Daviot, Inverness, had offered their services for the work in Sengera. These were gladly accepted by the Foreign Mission Committee. It will be remembered that Mr Ian Maclean spent two months at Sengera at the beginning of the year completing and unifying the existing building, erecting a water tower, and preaching. Mrs Maclean is a trained nurse and her help will be much appreciated. Their three boys will accompany them.
Zimbabwe Mission
MR James Mpofu has agreed to take over as much as possible of the late Mr David Ndlovu’s work, which would include the care of the mission motor vehicles and the oversight of building operations. He will be much missed at the John Tallach School.
The imminent visit to Zimbabwe of Rev Neil and Mrs Ross and their two daughters and the return from furlough in mid-September of Miss Marion Graham are anticipated with much pleasure.
