READERS of The Free Presbyterian Magazine will be already familiar with the name of this author. One of the great evangelical ministers of the Church of Scotland in the 18th Century he became well known in Scottish households as the author of several works which were designed to promote the practice of true godliness among the people. His Mother’s Catechism (reprinted by Free Presbyterian Publications), composed with the interests of the young at heart, particularly reveals just how ‘apt to teach’ he was.
In this new booklet we have in print again directions, based on Scripture portions, which, if carefully attended to, will have the same beneficial effect on the behaviour of professing Christians in the present as they had in the past. At a time when the line of demarcation between the Church and the world is being obscured – if not obliterated in certain quarters – the publication of this booklet is to be welcomed and we wish it a very wide circulation.
