The Church of Rome’s crocodile tears
A “statement of repentance” was read by a French Roman Catholic bishop, in the presence of other Roman Catholic Bishops, on the site of the Drancy transit camp through which thousands of Jews passed on their way to Nazi death camps. The statement was supposed to express the Roman Catholic Church’s repentance for failing to denounce the Vichy regime’s anti-Jewish laws. But Rome’s repentance cannot be construed as anything other than crocodile tears.
The fact is that the Vatican did more than fail to denounce anti-Semitic activities – it actually colluded with Nazi regimes and condoned their atrocities. Rome was also responsible for the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Serbs in Croatia in 1941-2. And then it helped to smuggle war criminals out of Europe, using gold, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre thinks, taken from victims of Nazi ethnic cleansing to finance its human smuggling operations.
Last July, says a recent report in the Daily Telegraph, “a United States Treasury document based on intelligence information was published accusing the Vatican of keeping tons of Holocaust gold for Croatia’s Nazi puppet regime and Ante Pavelic, the Ustashe founder. The looted gold was allegedly deposited in the Vatican vaults by Ustashe leaders for safekeeping.”
Rome ever has been, and is, a cruel, destructive system. Scripture predicts that it, itself, shall be destroyed: that the Lord shall consume it with the spirit of his mouth, and destroy it with the brightness of His coming, 2 Thessalonians 2:7, and for this we ought to pray. □
