The Paddington Rail Disaster
The fact that over forty people lost their lives when two trains collided at Paddington has provoked much thought and discussion. That is not to be wondered at when one considers how awful must have been the sufferings of those who eventually perished as well as those of survivors who are now in hospital recovering from injuries. We feel very much for the relatives of those who died. How uncertain and fragile are our lives and how true it is that we know not what a day or even an hour may bring forth. It would be well if the Lords voice crying to the city were heard and that it would lead many to consider how urgent and necessary it is for men to prepare to meet their God.
The Britain in Europe Campaign
It is now very clear that there is to be a concerted campaign to persuade the British people to vote, in the forthcoming referendum, for closer political and monetary union with the European Community. Thus we find former Conservative cabinet ministers appearing in public with the Prime Minister and presenting a united front. They would have us believe that they are standing up for the national interest. We find it alarming that any further movement towards European integration should even be contemplated. Why? Because we have seen our national sovereignty being eroded over the years and the threat to the stability of our Protestant throne becoming more and more real. We agree with those who see behind the movement for closer European union an insidious attempt to achieve what Hitler and Nazism, with the connivance of Pius XII, failed to achieve, that is, the establishment of the Fourth Reich another Holy Roman Empire. Dr Ian A. Sadler in his recently-published book draws attention to the Romanist origin of the flag of the European Union. Its symbolism is based on the Council of Europe stained glass window in Strasbourg Cathedral unveiled in 1995. It apparently shows “Mary dressed in blue with a halo of twelve stars holding the Reich crown, the crown of the Holy Roman Empire, over a map of Europe. This is a most potent symbol, which shows that the European Union represents the re-birth of the Holy Roman Empire, and demonstrates the aim of uniting the nations of Europe under the rule of the papacy. It is no coincidence that the fundamental treaty of the European Union is the Treaty of Rome.”
