DR Sadler, who is a research scientist and a member of a Strict Baptist church, wrote this book “as a warning to the Christian churches of the danger of the false religion that originated at Babylon”. The true successor to the Mysteries of Babylon is shown to be the Church of Rome; but other strands of the Mysteries, such as the Occult, are also exposed. The author takes the classic Reformed position regarding the papacy and the fulfilment of scripture concerning the man of sin.
Dr Sadler has drawn heavily on previous books written on this subject, such as Hislops The Two Babylons and Woodrows Babylon Mystery Religion; this is fully acknowledged. He has produced, in a very readable form, what perhaps is rather compressed by other writers the historical evolvement over the centuries of what is now full-blown papistry.
We do not agree with certain statements which have a bearing on the meaning of the sacraments and their administration. Apart from that we think the author has presented readers with much food for thought, and we are happy to recommend it to all who are seeking to discern the signs of the times.
