The Scottish Parliament presses on towards repeal of Section 28
THE duplicity of the Scottish Parliament with regard to the repeal of Section 28, the law which is intended to prevent the promotion of homosexuality in schools, is seen in its statement that the consultation process produced a 75 per cent majority in favour of repeal. When the majority of bodies they consulted were already in favour of repeal, what other result could we expect?
The general public says otherwise. MSPs report that the majority of their correspondents some of them said that the ratio is as high as 20-1 are against repeal. Nevertheless the Scottish Parliament voted by 88 to 18 in favour of the Governments plans for repeal.
We are amazed at the contempt which so many of our MSPs have shown to their electorate. The Scottish Parliament was supposed to be “the parliament of the people” a “listening parliament” but it seems that Mr Donald Dewars administration is most wilfully deaf to what very obviously the great majority of this people want protection for their children from the aggressive agenda of the homosexual lobby.
May the Lord in His mercy intervene and thwart the efforts of those politicians who listen to the voice of political correctness, and not to the voice of many thousands of concerned parents, or that of God in His Word when He so clearly warns against, and condemns, the sin which brought His wrath upon the “cities of the plain”. Any government which blatantly defies the God of Heaven cannot hope to have His blessing in its work of governing the people.
Ulsters continuing danger
THE Stormont Assembly, the Northern Ireland power-sharing executive, is now suspended after only 72 days in existence because of the refusal of the IRA and its political wing, Sinn Fein, to comply with the requirement which underpinned the formation of the Assembly that they would disarm.
Although so much ground and how much has been given to the Republicans, their refrain continues to be “No decommissioning”. Yet they have the preposterous audacity to blame the breakdown of disarmament negotiations on the Unionists and the British Government. Little wonder that the Unionists are, as one political commentator says, “disillusioned”, feeling that “the Catholics get everything and the Protestants nothing”.
Nor need we wonder at the intransigence of the Republican side. The leopard cannot change his spots. Sinn Fein and the IRA will never rest until every vestige of British power is removed from Ulster, and the province is under Dublins dominion. May the Lord answer the prayers of his people in Ulster by mercifully granting deliverance to that part of our United Kingdom from those wicked and unreasonable men.
