The World Situation
Much of the world has got used to peace since the end of World War II, but the situation seems more precarious now than for many a year. There is no sign of a permanent cease-fire in the Middle East, and no sign that President Putin of Russia is serious about a cease-fire in his war on Ukraine.
Diplomats and leaders of other nations are doing their best to bring about peace, but are any of them calling on the living God to help them in their efforts? But the sad fact is that the world does not deserve peace. Formerly-Protestant nations, for instance, have very largely given themselves over to secularism; yet for many years they have enjoyed much of God’s long-suffering. How much we ought to pray that the Lord in His great mercy would turn multitudes to Himself, and even whole nations! He is able. He has said, “I will yet for this be enquired of . . . to do it for them” (Ezek 36:37).
