The King and the Pope
During his tour of Italy, King Charles III paid a visit to Pope Francis in the Vatican. Romanism has not been a blessing to Britain over the centuries – one thinks of the persecution of John Wycliffe; the Protestant martyrs in England and Scotland; the Gunpowder Plot; the Irish rebellion of 1641; the reintroduction of Romanism under James II and VII, which led to the Glorious Revolution of 1689; the 1715 and 1745 rebellions; the Irish rebellion of 1798; and the IRA – and one wonders why our rulers court the head of a system which is nothing but trouble. But Romanism involves a “strong delusion” (2 Th 2:11), and those who do not have the “Spirit of truth” are susceptible to this delusion. We pray that God would open our monarch’s eyes.

The Christian’s consolation under all discouragement from man’s unwillingness to hear is this, that the call is God’s call, and that when He pleases, He can render it effectual.
